New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued Executive Order No. 202.20, authorizing the New York City Clerk’s office to enable couples to apply for a marriage license online and have a virtual wedding ceremony using video conference technology with a legally appointed and licensed marriage officiant.

Please visit Project Cupid to apply for a New York marriage license online. This must be done before we can move forward.

Licenses remain valid for 60 days. Marriage licenses issued in New York State are valid anywhere in the State so you may be able to get in-person appointments for marriage licenses with other Clerks’ Offices for earlier dates.

Following the application and appointment, the New York City Clerk will issue couples their marriage license by email, and then as soon as 24hrs later the couple may have a virtual wedding.

Payment in full is expected to secure your date.  Please select your date and time. The couple, witness, and marriage officiant must all be located in New York State.
